World Coconut Day 2024: APCC (Asian Pacific Coconut Community) is an intergovernmental organization that supervises the Asia Pacific states that produce coconuts. Founded on 2nd September, this organization’s aim is to promote, harmonizing, and coordinating all activities involving the coconut industry. World Coconut Day is celebrated in commemoration of the organization’s foundation. India is an important member of this organization and celebrated the importance & usage of coconuts on this day and all other days.
Coconut has multiple benefits, hence it is often referred to as the wonder fruit. This fleshy fruit is a member of the drupe family and is usually found in tropical countries. Coconut contains antibacterial, antioxidants, antiviral and anti-fungal elements.

Coconut sap, copra, and coir are used in making coconut cream, butter, and doormats. The coconut tree leaves are used for making roofs of houses. In the manufacturing of cosmetics, coconuts are the primary product. Coconuts promote digestion and reduce obesity.
India established the CDB (Coconut Development Board), a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The aim of CDB is the development of coconut and its related products. The headquarters of this board is in Kochi, Kerala.
In India, major coconut-producing states are Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal.
