The reports are saying that the new COVID-19 strain Lambda, could be more dangerous than the Delta variant. On Wednesday, sources said that this new variant case is not found in India, till now.
As per the UK Health Ministry, in the past four weeks, over 30 countries have been detected the Lambda strain.
On Monday, the Health Ministry of the United Kingdom had tweeted that Peru is reported as the origin for the Lambda strain, which is the world’s highest mortality country.
The Delta variant which is first detected in India was considered the most dangerous one among the COVID-19 strains. The Delta variant triggered the second COVID-19 wave in India. That made millions of people ill and thousands have died.
According to the Health Ministry of the UK, Britain is also having Lambda strain and till now, six confirmed cases are there.
As per ‘The Star’, researchers are concerned about the Lamda variant as it could be more infectious than the Delta variant.
With reference to the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) data, the Lambda variant is believed to be responsible for almost 82% of coronavirus cases that are reported in Peru in the months of May and June.
A concern was released by Public Health England too regarding Lambda saying, increased potential transmissibility or resistance neutralizing antibodies.
