Anita Wangalapudi is a politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh. She contested the 2014 and 2024 Legislative Assembly elections as a Telugu Desam Party candidate from Payakaraopet Legislative Assembly Constituency and won as an MLA and was sworn in as the Home Affairs & Disaster Management Minister of the Government of Andhra Pradesh on 12 June 2024 .
Birth, Education
Anitha Wangalapudi was born on January 1, 1984 in Lingarajupalem village of S. Rayavaram Mandal , Visakhapatnam District , Andhra Pradesh . Her father’s name is Vangalapudi Apparao. She completed MA from Andhra University in 2009. After completing her M.Ed, she worked as a government teacher and resigned from her job at the age of 28 and entered politics in 2012.
Political life
Vangalapudi Anitha contested the Andhra Pradesh state assembly election in 2014 as a Telugu Desam Party candidate from Payakaraupeta Legislative Assembly constituency and entered the assembly for the first time as an MLA by winning over her nearest YSRCP candidate Chengala Venkatarao with a majority of 2,828 votes. She was appointed as a board member of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) in 2018. [2] Anita contested the 2019 elections from Kovvur Legislative Assembly constituency and was defeated by Taneti Vanitha by a margin of 25,248 votes. [3] [4] She was appointed as Andhra Pradesh State Telugu Woman President on 30 January 2024.
Vangalapudi Anitha contested as a TDP candidate from Payakaraopet in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections and won the MLA for the second time with a majority of 43727 votes against her nearest rival YSRCP candidate Kambala Jogulu , and took charge as the Home Affairs & Disaster Management Minister of the Government of Andhra Pradesh on June 12, 2024
