The World Health Organization (WHO) granted Covaxin EUL status on Wednesday, implying that Indians who have received the “made-in-India” vaccine will no longer need to self-quarantine or face restrictions when travelling abroad.
According to the FDA, anyone 18 years of age and older can receive Covaxin in two doses four weeks apart. According to WHO, there is no recommendation for use on children, and the available data for pregnant women is insufficient to establish safety or efficacy.
Because there are currently insufficient data to evaluate the safety or efficacy of Covaxin vaccination in pregnant women, studies in pregnant women, such as a pregnancy sub-study and a pregnancy registry, are being developed.”
The EUL has received a certificate of recognition, according to Bharat Biotech “As a result, India will be able to commit vaccine supply for the World Health Organization-led COVAX global vaccine-sharing effort (WHO).
According to Reuters, the World Health Organization delayed Coaxin’s approval last month.
Covaxin, along with Covishield, is a cornerstone of India’s anti-coronavirus effort, with nearly 12.14 crore people having received it as of this evening.
The World Health Organization has given vaccination approval to Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and China’s Sinopharm.
