US President Joe Biden had a big awkward moment when he mistakenly referred to Ukrainian people as Iranian in his first state of Union address on Wednesday. He was discussing the ongoing Ukraine and Russia crisis.
Joe Biden’s address came as the Russian invasion of Ukraine steps into Day 7. He announced that the United States is closing its airspace to the planes of Russia, asserting that this along with some other measures would weaken Russia.
His stance has received major approval from people across the world. During his address, Biden made an apparent gaffe which has also gained attention on social media.
While urging everyone to put up a united front against Russian aggression, Joe Biden seemingly said, “Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he will never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people”.
Son, ‘Iranian’ began trending on Twitter, and a short video of Joe Biden where he appeared to mispronounce Ukrainian started becoming viral on the internet. The video also shows US vice president Kamala Harris standing next to Biden, focusing on Kamala Harris’s reaction to the US president’s mispronunciation.
Joe Biden’s first state of the Union speech started with the crisis in Ukraine and then he went on to talk about the US economy and his domestic agenda.
