Kerala To Test 3.75 Lakh People in 48 hours as State Logs More Than 15,000 Daily COVID-19 Cases: Kerala state is seeing a spike in the Covid-19 cases. Hence, Kerala Health Minister Veena George has announced that the state will test 3.75 lakh people in the coming two days under the ‘Augmented Testing Strategy’. This decision has been taken to identify the specific areas and categories of the coronavirus infection.
On Thursday and Friday, around 1.25 lakh and 2.5 lakh people will be tested respectively, the minister said on Wednesday.
She said that to strengthen the fight against covid-19, the analysis of the results helps a lot.
Veena George stated that people 45 years of age who engage in crowds, people over 45 years of age who have not been vaccinated, people with influenza-like symptoms, people who are in contact with the infected ones, will come under the new testing strategy.
She said in the release, “As per the protocols, the positive tested people would be isolated. Already recovered ones would be excluded from the tests. Testing camps, mobile labs will also be organized, in addition to the existing testing centers.”
Yesterday, 15.637 new cases and 128 deaths have reported in Kerala. With this, cases in the Kerala state became 31,03,310.
Around 12,974 persons have recovered yesterday. By this, the overall recovery rate reached 29,70,175. The active cases rose to 1,17,708.
The highest number of cases is recorded in Malappuram (2030). Next to it, Kozhikode (2024), Ernakulam (1894), Thrissur (1704), Kollam (1154), Thiruvananthapuram (1133) and Palakkad (1111) are in the list.
In the fresh infections, 66 are health workers, 57 are arrivals from Kerala outside, and through the contact, 14,717 people were infected. In 797 cases, the source of contact was unknown.
