Tokyo Paralympics: On Saturday, Shooter Manish Narwal won India’s third gold medal at the ongoing Tko Paralympics 2020, and Singhraj Adhana clinched a silver medal in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event.
The nineteen years old, Narwal claimed the gold medal by a total of 218.2, which is a Paralympics record. Singhraj, who had bagged bronze in the P1 men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event, also won the silver with an effort of 216.7.
ROC’s Sergey Malyshev bagged the bronze with 196.8.
In the qualifying round, Adana with a total of 536 progressed to the medal round in fourth place, and Narwal shot 533 to qualify at seventh at the Asaka Shooting Range.
The other Indian Akash failed to make the final by finishing 27th in the qualifying round.
In the SH1 category, the pistol is held with one only. Athletes who have an impairment affecting one arm or/and leg will participate in this category. P4 classification is for the mixed 50m air pistol competition.
As per the rules, some shooters compete in a standing position, some in a seated position.
