Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said that The Kashmir Files movie was far from the truth as the movie makers have ignored the sacrifices of the Sikhs and Muslims who had also suffered from militancy.
“When the unfortunate incident of migration of Kashmir Pandit happened, at that time Farooq Abdullah was not the chief minister but Jagmohan was the governer. It was VP Singh who led the government at the Centre which was supported by the BJP from outside,” PTI news agency quotes National Conference Vice President Abdullah as talking to reporters in Damal Hanji Pora, Kulgam district, Kashmir.
He further said, “If Kashmiri Pandits have become victims to terrorists then we have utmost regret about that, but let’s not forget the sacrifices done by Muslims and Sikhs who were also targeted by the same gun”.
He further said, “Today, there is a need to create an atmosphere where we could bring back all those who had left their houses and not create a communal divide. But I don’t think that those people who have made this Kashmir Files movie, want them (Kashmiri Pandits) to return. Through this picture, they desire Pandits to remain outside always”.
Abdullah said, “I am afraid of the hatred which is being created against Kashmiri Muslims today, God forbid, our children who are studying outside the state, should not bear it’s burnt”.
