While the number of manufacturing companies in India is growing rapidly, so is the country’s export and productivity. But freight is a major obstacle to the growth and trade of the country’s manufacturing sector.
The logistics of all products in India is facing a major problem. A large part of the cost of manufactured goods in particular is logistics costs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi
The government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has come up with a grand plan to reduce these costs, reduce the cost of goods and create any price for export of goods manufactured in India, connecting existing manufacturing bases across the country.
1200 factory areas
The Prime Minister Modi-led government has set up more than 1,200 industrial clusters in India (including 2 defense industrial areas) that are multi-modal connectivity.
Gati Shakti Project
The name of this giant project is Gati Shakti, which means the power of speed. The Modi government plans to implement the project at an estimated cost of Rs 100 lakh crore.
Prices of manufactured goods
By connecting the factory areas with the power of the khati not only the transport of the country can be greatly improved but all the parts can be reached quickly and in less travel time. This will not only reduce transportation costs but also reduce the cost of manufactured goods.
Traffic is an important problem
This will enable the prices of all the products currently manufactured in India to be reduced and the goods can be exported at prices favorable to the people and the overseas market. Transportation is one of the most important problems facing the manufacturing sector in India at present.
Major sector parks
Currently, the Modi government lists 1,200 industrial areas, including food processing parks, electronics manufacturing parks, IT, pharma, medical equipment, fishing grounds, ports and textile parks.
Link with Sagarmala, Barthmala
Not only this, the Gati Shakti project is already planned by the Central Government to connect Sagarmala, Barthmala, Uthan, railway network expansion, inland waterway transport and Parthnet.
Supply Chain Ways
By upgrading the supply chain routes in India, freight transport will become easier. It will form the basis of the country’s trade, manufacturing and export sector growth. Not only this, supply chain and logistics account for 14 per cent of India’s GDP. It averages 8 percent of the world’s population.
Introduced in September
Modi first announced the Gati Shakti project on August 15. The project will be officially announced next September and the federal government is set to explain its functions and project format. Transportation services are expected to be greatly improved through this project.
5 sections link
Based on the data available at present, 197 food processing parks and agro clusters, 202 fishing sites and ports, 2 defense corridors, 109 pharma and medical equipment manufacturing sites, 90 textile parks are to be connected by Gati Shakti.
