World Health Day 2024: 7th April 2024 is World Health Day.
It is celebrated annually and draws attention to a specific health topic of concern each year to people all over the world. The date 7th April is the anniversary of WHO’s founding in 1948.
This year World Health Day will shine a light on nurses and midwives, the on-call restless medic workforce that revolutionized the healthcare industry in the current pandemic situation.
World Health Day: History & Significance
In December 1945, officials of China and Brazil proposed to the world the creation of an international health organization, which is all-embracing and absolutely independent of any governmental power and politics.
In June 1946, the constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO)was announced. The announcement came into force on April 7, 1948. 61 countries signed an agreement for the establishment of the NGO.
Since 1950, World Health Day uses different themes each year selected by the DirectorGeneral of WHO, based on suggestions of staff and member governments.
World Health Day 2024: Theme
The World Health Day 2024 theme is “Our Planet Our Health”.
The WHO and its partners are hoping for a green and healthy recovery from Covid-19, that puts individuals and the planet’s health at the center of the action and be more focused on creating societies focused on well-being.
The day will shine a light on the vital role played by nurses and midwives in providing health care around the world, including the launch of the first-ever state of World’s Nursing Report, which will plan to optimize and recognize the contribution of the Nurses workforce.
The World Health Day will present the vision and inspiring stories of America about the actions they are taking to build a world of safe air, clean water, healthy food for everyone, livable cities, stable economies and healthy well-being.
