26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks: Friday marks the 13 years for the 26 November 2008, terror attacks in Mumbai, which are carried by 10 terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The terrorists targeted various crowded locations of Mumbai city which includes Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Hotel Trident, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Nariman House, Cama Hospital, etc.
A total of 166 people lost their lives including security personnel. Nine terrorists were gunned down by the NSG (National Security Guard) and Mumbai police. Ajmal Kasab is the only terrorist captured alive and was sentenced to death. Kasab was hanged to death on 21st November 2012, five days before the fourth anniversary of this 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks.
Here is the brief sequence of events
November 26
The 10 Lashkar terrorists arrive from Karachi to Mumbai on speedboats. The initial reports state that a gang war is going to happen but it is soon clear that this is a terrorist attack.
Four terrorists entered the Taj, two enter the Nariman House, and the other two enter the Trident. The remaining two start fire at the CSMT killing 58 people and injuring more than 100. Then, Kasab and Ismail Khan move towards the Cama Hospital. In this way, they kill six police personnel, which include the then Mumbai ATS (Anti-Terror Squad) chief Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte, and Vijay Salaskar.
Then this duo flew in the officers’ jeep but are attacked by the Mumbai Police. Khan is killed and Kasab is arrested. In action, Constable Tukaram Ombale is killed.

November 27
Marine commandos and Army soldiers surrounded the Taj, Trident, Nariman House. The elite NSG launched Operation Black Tornado.
November 28
Commandos finished the operation at the Nariman House and Trident as well
November 29
The attacks came to an end with the NSG securing the Taj
These attacks led to the resignations of then Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, and others.
