Mammootty Films
Over a career span of three decades, Mammootty has acted in around 400 movies. He was a lawyer by profession. Later the establishment of his career as a lead actor in the 1980s, his major breakthrough is the 1987 movie New Delhi.
Apart from Malayalam, Mammootty acted in other languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and English movies. His Tamil debut was with the film Mounam Sammadham (1990), which was directed by K.Madhu.
He has worked with directors like K. Balachander (Azhagan), Mani Ratnam (Thalapathy), N. Linguswamy (Aanandham), Rajiv Menon (Kandukondain Kandukondain), and Fazil (Kilippechu Kekkavaa). In K.Vishwanath’s Telugu film Swathi Kiranam, Mammootty played Anatha Sharma’s role.
In the year 2012, he appeared in the Kannada-Malayalam bilingual film Shikari. Mammootty debuted in the Hindi movies with Thriyathri, which was released in 1989. As a lead actor, his Hindi debut was Dhartiputra. He also acted in the biographical film, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, directed by Jabbar Patel, which was an English movie.
