Local elections
The local elections were held in 2019 following the Supreme Court’s condemnation of the local elections. In addition, rural and urban local elections were not held in the 9 newly formed districts. 9 districts
The announcement of the rural local elections in the 9 districts that were left out in this context was made last week. It has been announced that local government elections will be held in Tamil Nadu on October 6 and 9 in two phases. The counting of votes will take place on October 12. Candidature for this started on the 15th. Those who want to contest the election will come Sept. Nominations can be submitted till the 22nd.
Election observers
In this situation, IAS officers have been appointed as observers in 9 district rural local elections. Accordingly, Amuthavalli for Kanchipuram district, Sampath for Chengalpattu district and Palanisamy for Villupuram district have been appointed as election observers. Similarly, Vivekanandan has been appointed for Kallakurichi district, Vijayaraj Kumar for Vellore district, Madhumati for Ranipettai district and Kamaraj for Tirupati district.
When to start
Jayakanthan for Nellai district and Po Shankar for Tenkasi district have been appointed as election observers. It has been announced that 9 of them will go to their respective districts on the last day of filing nominations (Sep 22) and start monitoring the elections. They will monitor the regular conduct of rural local elections.
Urban local elections
With the dates of the rural local elections announced, it is expected that the urban local elections will be held soon. It is said that urban local elections will be held early next year.

Meanwhile, in the rural local elections, the Kuker symbol has been allotted to Amamuga. DTV is forced to get at least a minimal victory in this election. Otherwise his political future will be in question.
