Matthew Hayden, Pakistan batting consultant, has dubbed the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry the “holy grail” of sports.
‘I’ve never seen a more disciplined and humble approach to winning,’ says Matthew Hayden, a former Australia opener and current Pakistan batting consultant, of the national team’s locker room culture. Hayden also referred to India-Pakistan cricket rivalry as the “holy grail” of the sporting calendar.
Pakistan defeated India by a ten-wicket margin in the 2024 T20 World Cup opener on Sunday, ending their tournament winless streak. While India’s bowlers, led by Shaheen Afridi, limited Pakistan to 151/7, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and opening partner Mohammad Rizwan helped Pakistan chase down a 152-run target without losing a wicket. Pakistan was able to finish the chase unbeaten.
“The cricket match between India and Pakistan is a must-see event on the sporting calendar. Nothing compares to what I witnessed last night in Dubai’s changing room while waiting for my flight. The scenery was stunning.” According to Matthew Hayden of Fox Cricket.
“There is a lot of happiness in the locker room, but I have never seen such a focused and humble team when it comes to winning. There was a lot of humility on display.” Hayden went into greater depth on the subject at hand.
Hayden singled out Pakistan captain Babar Azam for praise for his team’s leadership and discipline.
“Throughout his career, Babar Azam has proven to be an exceptional leader. As he prepares for his performance, he is unassuming and unconcerned about anything. There is a strong spiritual undertone to the culture as a whole. It’s a fantastic opportunity to broaden your cultural knowledge “Hayden continued to speak.
In their next match, both India and Pakistan will face New Zealand. Pakistan will play New Zealand on Tuesday, and India will play Pakistan on Sunday.
