The ‘California Streaming’ Apple iPhone 13 launch event begins today (Tuesday, September 14) at 10.30pm IST or 10am PDT. Apple’s all-virtual event is expected to unveil the next generation of iPhone models as well as the Apple Watch Series 7. The iPhone 13 lineup, like the iPhone 12 series, is expected to include four models, but with smaller notches, larger batteries, and faster A15 Bionic chipsets. Analysts anticipate that the Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatches will be redesigned with flatter screens and slightly larger dials than the Watch Series 6. We can also expect some iOS 15 updates from Apple at its biggest launch event of the year. You can watch the Apple event livestream in a variety of ways, including on Apple’s website and YouTube channel, as well as on e-commerce sites such as Amazon and Flipkart, or you can simply watch the event here from the video at the top of this article.
According to rumours, Apple will also release the third generation of AirPods. Apple released the first true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones in 2016, based on the design language of Apple’s classic, wired EarPods, which was retained in the second iteration of AirPods released in 2019. Analysts believe the Apple AirPods (3rd generation) will abandon the loose-fitting design in favour of the in-canal fit of the AirPods Pro, which debuted in 2019.
According to reports, the iPhone 13 series, which includes the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, will not see a major redesign. Instead, the highlight of the iPhone models this year could be slick new features such as the provision of satellite connectivity. This would enable iPhone users to send short emergency texts and SOS distress signals from locations where mobile connectivity is not available. Even if the feature is activated later via a software update, the iPhone 13 models are said to have the necessary hardware.
Apple’s ‘California Streaming’ event is expected to follow the company’s traditional format, beginning with a keynote from Apple CEO Tim Cook, followed by the introduction of a new iPhone series and updates on Apple’s other products and services.
