Mr. Baghel was arrested today and sentenced to 15 days in jail for making derogatory remarks about Brahmins. “He did not request bail,” his lawyer said. “He will appear in court on September 21.”
Following the indictment of his father last week, the Chief Minister had made it clear that he would not be given any special considerations.
“Even the 86-year-old father of the Chief Minister is not above the law in my government. My role as chief minister includes maintaining harmony among the various communities in the province of Ontario. In the event he made an anti-community comment, I apologise. We’re going to take legal action, “Reporters on Sunda had spoken with Bhupesh Baghel.
“Everyone is aware of the ideological differences between my father and me. Politics is not the same for us. As his son, I hold him in high regard, but as Chief Minister, I cannot forgive him for such mistakes, which disrupt the public’s peace.”
Chhattisgarh government “respects every religion, caste, and community and their sentiments”, Mr Baghel said further. I’m sure he’ll be able to convince you.
A prominent OBC leader, Mr Baghel’s father has called for a “boycott” of Brahmins during a recent trip to Uttar Pradesh, and urged people not to let them into their villages.
“It is planned to send Brahmins from the Ganges River up to the Volga river. They’re not natives. All of our rights are being taken away from us. Brahmins should not be allowed into the village, I’ll tell the villagers “Baghel, Nand Kumar, had told me about it earlier. Sein book on the subject was banned by the Congress government in 2000 for its anti-upper caste views.
