The chief minister of the Indian state of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, appointed new ministers to their respective portfolios on Monday. The Chief Minister retained control of the Home and Finance portfolios.
Vishvendra Singh, Minister of Tourism, and Mahesh Joshi, Minister of Public Health Engineering and Groundwater, have been named in a list released by the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Sachin Pilot, the former Deputy Chief Minister, is close to Congress MLA Vishvendra Singh of Bharatpur. Mahesh Joshi, the Congress chief whip in Rajasthan, is seen as a supporter of Gehlot.
The government has appointed Lalchand Kataria of Bikaner and Bulaki Das Kalla of Bikaner as Ministers of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries.
The Congress Party has given Antah MLA Pramod Bhaya the departments of Gopalan (cow rearing), Mines, and Petroleum
Pratap Singh Khachariya has been given responsibility for the departments of Food and Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies as a result of his previous role as Transport Minister.
CM Ashok Gehlot may announce the appointment of parliamentary secretaries in an attempt to appease Congress MLAs who were hoping for a ministerial berth but were disappointed. Jitendra Singh, Ramkesh Meena, Sanyam Lodha, Danish Abrar, and Rajkumar Sharma are among the newly appointed parliamentary secretaries.
