A few days after its existence, Delhi issued an order that civilian workers who had been unemployed for three days should be suspended. The order issued on May 26 by the Deputy Commissioner of the Zone Civil Service Office also states that one day’s salary will be deducted from the accounts of staff who were absent without permission.
“To ensure that public services are provided on time and without delay, it is mandated that from now on, all officers or officers will be in the office from 9:00,” the order states. There were reports in the media section that employees arrived at the office too late. In the past, media reports have stated that there were many “ghost” employees in the city’s businesses. “In addition, if one employee is found absent three times, the alleged offending officer will be immediately suspended and action must be taken against him,” the order said. The Civil Lines DC Office order also states that all office staff must report their presence on the NIC (MCD) Smart App. The attendance record application will be considered a “source of facts” to verify the presence of officers and other on-duty personnel, he added.
The Delhi Joint Municipal Corporation (MCD) was formally established on May 22 when IAS officials Ashwani Kumar and Gyanesh Bharti took over as special officers and commissioners of the new civilian body. The MCD was split in 2012 during Sheila Dikshit’s tenure as prime minister. It is now reunited by merging three civic agencies: North, South, and East Municipal Corporations.
