The weather service predicts heavy rain in northern Gujarat and north and north-west Maharashtra tomorrow. According to the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system over the Andaman Sea is expected to develop in the next 12 hours and become a cyclonic storm in the central Bay of Bengal around Friday (IMD).
Over the next 24 hours, unusually low pressure will likely develop over the eastern central Arabian Sea, near the Maharashtra coast.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclonic storm is expected to consolidate in the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal by Thursday after moving west-northwest (IMD).
The coastal region of Odisha is expected to receive “heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy falls,” as well as “heavy to very heavy” rainfall in adjoining Odisha districts, coastal West Bengal districts, and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
According to the IMD, as the system moves northeast, the northeastern states will see increased rainfall activity on December 5-6, with isolated heavy to very heavy rain.
