Despite the fact that he has been labeled a “proclaimed offender” by the court, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh stated on Wednesday that he is currently in Chandigarh and will return to Mumbai soon.
An IPS officer, the alleged extortion suspect, claimed to be in Chandigarh, India.
Reporters wanted to know if Param Bir Singh planned to surrender (to the police or the court).
On Wednesday evening, the IPS officer appeared on Telegram, but he later deleted his account
M Bir Singh has not worked since May of this year, after being fired as Mumbai police commissioner and facing corruption allegations against then-Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
The Supreme Court has granted immunity from arrest to Param Bir Singh.
He was reportedly transferred after the arrest of Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, who was linked to the discovery of a suspicious SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai home and the subsequent suspicious death of businessman Mansukh Hiran.
