International Day of Friendship: History
Friendship Day was first organized in 1930 by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark Cards. He wanted this day to be grandly celebrated on August 2 – a day when people acknowledge their company or friends.
In 1958, the World Friendship Crusade – an international civil organization proposed the first International Friendship Day on 30th July.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on April 27, 2011, declared 30 July as the official International Friendship Day.

The UNGA declared 30 July as International Friendship Day with the objective that friendship between peoples, cultures, countries, and individuals can inspire peace and also bridge the gap between communities.
