It was announced on Tuesday by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the night curfew and “strict intensified” restrictions on Sundays would be lifted immediately.
The move comes after the state reported 25,772 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
“The decision to remove restrictions was made at a COVID review meeting,” said the Chief Minister, citing a drop in the state’s TPR from 18.49 per cent in the last week of August to 17.91 per cent in the first week of September.”
Positivity rate was 15.87 percent on Tuesday.
In his opinion, the number of cases can be reduced if people continue to be more vigilant.
A night curfew from 10pm to 6am from Monday to Saturday was imposed after the number of daily cases reached more than 30,000 after Onam celebrations.
There was a similar announcement made on Tuesday night by the state government, which stated: “Restrictions imposed during the night from 10pm to 6am will be removed forthwith.”
Training institutions for students older than 18 years of age that are entirely residence-based will be allowed to operate on the bio-bubble model as well.
Student trainers should receive at least one dose of the vaccine, as should all faculty and staff.
