Megha Dadu Dam issue: UNION MINISTER’s VIEW
New Delhi: The Megha Dadu dam issue has erupted again between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Karnataka government has unnecessarily taken up the Megha Dadu dam issue while the case is pending in the Supreme Court.
Karnataka Chief Minister Eduyurappa is adamant that the Megha Dadu Dam will be built across the Cauvery to stop the flow of Cauvery water, which is the lifeblood of the delta districts.
Yeddyurappa told reporters about this a few weeks ago. Angered by this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that it has to be given up for the concern of delta farmers in Tamil Nadu.
Edyurappa’s Determination:
However, the stubborn Eddiurappa said, “The Meghadadu Dam will benefit farmers in both the states. This dam is very important for the drinking water needs of Bangalore. If necessary, we will talk and settle, ”the chief wrote to Stalin.
Opposition to MK Stalin
“This dam will definitely affect TN farmers. To destroy the lives of Tamil Nadu farmers for the meager drinking water is not fair. MK Stalin, who wrote the letter, said, “The Meghadau dam should not be built.” The Tamil Nadu government also registered a protest against Eduparappa at the Cauvery Management Commission meeting.
Unanimous resolution
As Karnataka was adamant that “we will complete the construction of the Megha Dadu Dam”, the Tamil Nadu government began to take the next step. Chief Minister MK Stalin immediately convened an all-party meeting and held consultations. The meeting was attended by parties including AIADMK, BJP

Durai Murugan Press statement :
Following this, Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan told reporters that the Central Government should not go to Karnataka in any way regarding the Megha Dadu Dam issue. We have unanimously urged the Union Minister not to give permission for the Megha Dadu Dam project. Karnataka’s project report for Megha Dadu Dam is not complete.
