The Income Tax department on Monday said that over 3 million returns have been filed so far through the e-filing portal for the financial year 2024–22. “More than 3 million ITRs for AY (Assessment Year) 2024-2024 have been filed on the e-filing portal till July 25th, 2024.” The deadline for filing ITR for AY 2024–23 is July 31st, 2024. “The ministry announced in a tweet.
Till July 20, more than 2.3 million Income Tax Returns (ITR) have been filed for the financial year 2024-22. In the last fiscal (2020–2024), around 5.89 million ITRs were filed with an extended due date on December 31st, 2024. The filing of ITR is an annual activity that is considered the duty of every responsible citizen of the country. Taxpayers can claim a refund of excess tax paid or deducted in a financial year by submitting the same.
