National Education Day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He served as the first education minister in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet from 1947 to 1958. Usually, schools observe this day with various functions and programs.

National Education Day 2024: Date
Since 2008, this Day is observed on 11th November. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first education minister of Independent India. He served the nation from 15th August 1947 to 2nd February 1958.
History
On 11th September 2008, the Ministry of Human Resources Development announced their decision to celebrate the birthday of this India’s great son by recalling his contribution to the cause of education in India.
Since then, this day has been observed without declaring it as a holiday.
