Medicine in search of people .. Stalin’s super plan… What service … How is it going to be available?
Chennai: The ‘People’s Search for Medicine’ project in Tamil Nadu is a truly massive project. It has been operational in Tamil Nadu since today. The DMK government, led by Chief Minister Stalin, has introduced a scheme that will benefit those who are bedridden at home and those who cannot come to the hospital in person.
Now all the services to the people have started to come in search of a home. Home-searching banking service, home-to-home food delivery, home-to-home delivery of all services have begun to arrive. Why even education has now come in search of housing. Students are learning online. It was in this situation that Chief Minister Stalin, who wanted to seek medical treatment for the people, started going directly to the small village of Samanapalli in the Krishnagiri district. This is also commendable.
Many people in Tamil Nadu are suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. Especially people over the age of 40 have this problem. They need to take the daily pills properly.
They have to go to the hospital for treatment and use the prescription.
But the poor who cannot afford to buy medicines goes to the government doctor. They treat them there. Medication and tablets are provided free of charge.
Lofty purpose
But many patients could not go to the doctor because of the corona curfew. In such an environment, the People’s Medical Program is a program launched with the lofty goal of helping people with diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, tuberculosis, and kidney disease to go home and be given pills.
Dialysis treatment
At present, those who come to the government hospital and buy medicine and pills go home and are given directly by the medical staff. In addition, people who need dialysis treatment for kidney problems are being treated with a portable dialysis device that they can take home with them. The project is a wonderful boon to the rural and hill country people.
How to implement
The government has decided to provide the tablets to 20 lakh people at the inception of the scheme and has gradually expanded the scheme to one crore people. Well now let’s see how this project will be implemented. A vehicle will be hired to transport medicines from the primary health center to the health sub-centers. One branded medicine box will be given once to each patient listed for home delivery of high blood pressure and diabetes medications. The first phase of the project will cover 1172 health centers, 189 primary health centers, and 50 community health centers in 50 universal health coverage blocks across the state. In addition, the scheme will be extended to 21 urban primary health centers in Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, and Chennai.
Chief Minister Order
The program will be expanded to cover the entire state by the end of 2024. The project is expected to cost Rs 257,15,78,350 per annum apart from the current cost of the project. The Chief Minister has directed the various level health institutions in the districts to accredit the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine to implement the scheme through the State Primary Health Care System and to monitor the scheme through the Non-Communicable Diseases Cell of the Tamil Nadu National Health Program.
