Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled an indigenously developed light combat helicopter (LCH) in Jhansi, India, on Friday. For effective combat roles, the light combat helicopter incorporates cutting-edge technologies and stealth features.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited designed and built the LCH. It is the world’s only attack helicopter capable of landing and taking off at 5,000 metres while carrying a significant load of weapons and fuel.
During his visit to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the Indian Navy with drones developed by Indian startups as well as advanced electronic warfare suites.
On the final day of the “Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv,” Modi inaugurated a plant in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, that will produce propulsion systems for anti-tank guided missiles with a budget of Rs 400 crore.
IN RESPONSE TO HAL’S LCH, THE LCH is a 5.8-tonne twin-engine helicopter with tandem seating for the pilot and co-pilot/weapon system operator (WSO). This aircraft’s stealth features include reduced radar and infrared signatures, as well as crashworthy landing gear.
LCH was created with the assistance of the private sector, making it a genuine ‘Made in India’ product. LCH is being developed in collaboration with both public and private sector partners. One hundred and seventy-five manufacturers and suppliers are involved in the production of components and assemblies, as well as tools and test equipment and technical documentation.
