Auto LPG Gas Price Unprecedented Rise: Rental Drivers Worried!
Taxi drivers are worried as the price of used auto LPG gas for vehicles has touched an all-time high. The use of environmentally friendly LPG gas-powered vehicles as an alternative to petroleum fuels is increasing significantly. Following the sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices, many auto drivers are turning their cars into gas cars.
In addition, many rental car owners who can’t cope with the rise in petrol prices are turning it into an LPG-powered vehicle. Permission has not yet been granted to convert these PS-4 cars to LPG gas. As the use of GIAs vehicles has increased, so has the price.
The price of a liter of AutoGas has gone up by Rs 50 to Rs 41 per liter from Rs 50 last July.
Accordingly, the price of a liter of gas in Chennai is 55 rupees and 51 rupees and in Madurai, it is 54 rupees and 41 rupees.
In May last year, the price of a liter of autogas was 32 rupees 02 rupees. It has been steadily rising to Rs 56 in the last 14 months, putting auto drivers in a difficult position.
Auto drivers have also demanded that the price of LPG gas be reduced to protect their livelihood. At the same time, rental car owners have demanded that the government allow it to be used in cars, as the price of a liter of CNG gas is 51 rupees.
It is a matter of concern that the Central and State Governments have not come forward to repeal anything like road tax, insurance, bank installments for autos. The People’s Justice Center has demanded that the Tamil Nadu government take appropriate action to brighten the lives of auto drivers who are surrounded by darkness.
A statement from the People’s Justice Center said: “The curfew has completely banned public transport and the government has instructed employees from various industries, including IT companies, to work from home, leaving hundreds of thousands of people dependent on the auto driving industry to lose their livelihoods.
In addition, over the past year and a half, even during the period of turmoil, the oil companies have been relentlessly raising the prices of automotive fuels such as petrol and diesel. It is a matter of concern that the Central and State Governments have not come forward to repeal anything like road tax, insurance, bank installments for autos, even though public transport is already completely paralyzed in the curfew and auto drivers are suffering from insufficient income during the relaxation period.
The new government also introduced a special scheme to allow working women to travel for free on government buses after taking office. There is no alternative to a welcome plan. Due to that, the number of women traveling in autos has decreased. The Government of Tamil Nadu should take appropriate action to brighten the lives of auto drivers who have lost their livelihoods in the last one and a half years due to low income and rising petrol prices.
Considering the concerns of auto drivers, the government should set up an advisory committee with the participation of government officials and victims’ victims to illuminate the lives of autoworkers as per the decision taken by that committee, ”the party’s state secretary for labor welfare, SU Ponnusamy, urged the Tamil Nadu government.
