Bhopal: According to MP Tourism, Culture, and Spirituality Minister Usha Thakur, the Madhya Pradesh BJP government will hold a general knowledge competition based on the Hindu epic “Ramayana,” with winners receiving a chance to fly to Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, where a grand Ram temple is being built.
According to a ministerial statement issued on Sunday, there will be national and international competitions based on the “Ramayana” general knowledge competition.
The statement did not specify a date or the number of winners, but it did state that the winners would be able to fly from New York to Ayodhya.
Ms Thakur announced the news on Sunday evening at the Dr. BR Ambedkar University of Social Science in Mhow, Indore district, while launching a new general knowledge competition based on examples of value creation in the epic “Ramcharitmanas,” in the chapter “Ayodhya Kand.”
The competition, which was launched by the minister on Sunday, will select four students from each of the state’s districts as finalists. The state’s culture department will organise it.
Ms Thakur unveiled a photo exhibition about the Ramayana character Shabri as part of the event.
Others in the community attended the event, including scholar Mandakini Ramkinkar, who gives talks on the “Ramayana.”
Last month, Mohan Yadav, Minister of Higher Education, announced that first-year students at state colleges and universities will be able to take the epic “Ramcharitmanas” as an elective subject for philosophy students studying art.
The MP government has also allocated one crore in this year’s state budget for the preparation of feasibility and detailed project reports for the “Ram Van Gaman Path” project, which seeks to retrace Lord Ram’s route during his exile.
The Madhya Pradesh Spirituality Department and the MP Road Development Corporation will construct a road from Chitrakoot to Amarkantak, passing through the districts of Satna, Panna, Amanganj, Katni, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, and Shahdol. The MP Road Development Corporation will pay for the road.
During the most recent MP Assembly elections, the Congress Party announced the Ram Van Gaman Path project as part of its election manifesto.
