No Tobacco Day is observed every year with a different theme. World No Tobacco Day 2024 theme is “Protect The Environment”. The 2024 global campaign aims to raise public awareness about the environmental impact of the complete tobacco cycle, from its cultivation, production, and distribution to the toxic waste it generates.

World No Tobacco Day 2024 History & Significance
In the year 1987 the WHO passed a resolution that announced April 7, 1988, as World No Smoking Day. This act was passed to motivate people to prevent the usage of tobacco for at least 24 hours. Later in 1988, the organization passed another resolution stating that World No Tobacco Day will be observed on 31st May.
In 2008, the World Health Organization banned any kind of advertisement/promotion about tobacco, thinking that probably the ads attract youth to indulge in smoking.
