World Pharmacists Day 2024 is celebrated on 25th September every year to pay tributes to the pharmacists for their role in improving global health. The purpose of annual Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that advocate and promote the pharmacist’s role in improving health across the world. This year’s theme is developed by the FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation), and it is ‘Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health’. The theme was chosen for highlighting the importance of trust in healthcare and pharmacy practice in diverse clinical settings.

This year, Pharmacists Day is being observed with the theme – “Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health”. As per the International Pharmaceutical Federation, “Trust is a central part of all human relationships and a fundamental element of social capital. Trust is also necessary to health: there is a significant association between trust in healthcare professionals and health outcomes for patients.”

This day was introduced in the year 2009 in Istanbul, by the International Pharmaceutical Federation council. This is the 11th year for the celebration of the annual Pharmacists Day across the globe.
25th September was declared as the date for World Pharmacist Day because it was the day when the International Pharmaceutical Federation was established.
World Pharmacists Day: Significance
Pharmacy links medicinal science with chemistry. It also plays a highly important role in modern society. Pharmacists do the production, discovery, disposal, safe and effective use, and control of drugs and medications. Without efficient pharmacists, the world would not have safe medicines and drugs.
