World Tourism Day is observed on September 27 each year. The tourism day is the indication for the commemoration of the adoption of the Statutes of the organization in 1970, making the path for the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) establishment. The UNWTO is an agency of the United Nations and is responsible for the promotion of sustainable, responsible, and universally accessible tourism.
Tourism Day: History
UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) was established on this day in the year 1980 to create awareness of how tourism affects political, social-cultural, economic values globally and the tourism role within the international community.
Significance
On this day, UNWTO urges people to highlight the tourism ability.
Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO’s secretary-general said, “by celebrating the tourism day, we state our commitment that, as tourism grows, the benefits come from that will be felt at each level of our diverse and broad sector, from the biggest airline to the smallest business.”
