Yuvraj Singh: Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has suggested that he will be back on the field from February 2024 on public demand. The 39-year-old world cup winning hero hinted the same via a social post on 2nd November.
In the 2011 ICC ODI world cup, Yuvraj won the player of the Tournament and was one of the Men in Blues’ most prolific all-rounders during his playing career. He retired from all forms of international cricket on 10th June 2019.
Yuvi’s biggest setback came during the period where he was diagnosed with cancer. He made a fighting comeback to play again for Team India after his disease. In 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Tests, Yuvraj went on to score more than 11000 runs with 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries. He scalped 148 wickets with one 5-wicket haul and two 4-wicket hauls with the ball as well.
Interestingly, Yuvaraj Singh is rearing to get back on the pitch as he recalled his famous knock against England in Cuttack by sharing a throwback video on his official Instagram handle. He scored 150 off 127 balls striking 21 fours and 3 sixes in his power-packed innings.
Yuvraj wrote in the caption of his post, “God decides your destiny !! On public demand il be back on the pitch hopefully in February ! Ain’t nothing like this feeling ! Thank you for your love and wishes mean a lot to me ! Keep supporting it’s our team and a true fan will show his or her support in tough times #jaihind” (sic).
To emote the feeling of love for tricolour, Yuvraj played the patriotic song ‘Teri Mitti’ from the Akshay Kumar starrer Bollywood film ‘Kesari’ (2019). He further believes that it is the almighty, who decides a person’s destiny.
Yuvraj Singh made his debut way back for the Men in Blue in 2000 in the ICC Knockout Trophy in Nairobi and went on to play for 17 years. He last played for India in the ODI against the West Indies on 30th June 2017.
