Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer, was laid to rest with full state honors in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Sunday in the presence of her family. Among those who paid tribute to the famous singer were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan, and Ranbir Kapoor. She died of multi-organ failure at the age of 92 on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital.
Lata Mangeshkar was born into a musical family, the daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar. Her father was a famous Marathi musician and theatre artist. Her father tutored her initially, and she later appeared in several of his plays as a child actor.

Illness and death
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital’s intensive care unit on January 8, 2024, after testing positive for COVID-19 with minimal symptoms. With symptoms of “minimal improvement” in her health, she remained in the ICU. Her physicians had removed her off the ventilator on January 28th after her health had “marginally improved”; however, she was back on the ventilator on 5th February after her health had deteriorated and she was having “aggressive therapy.”
She died of multiple organ failure syndromes on 6 February 2024, at the age of 92, after undergoing 28 days of constant treatment for Pneumonia and COVID-19.
