In 2000, she was elected as a Member of the Rajya Sabha and also worked in the committee on Transport, Tourism, and Ministry of Human Resource Development till 2006. She won in the 2019 elections, and from that day onwards, she is working in the committee on Home Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Forest, and climate change.
