Andhra Pradesh Formation Day: The Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day 2024 will be celebrated on November 1 as the state was officially founded on November 1, 1956. Hence, this day is celebrated to mark the anniversary of the state’s formation.
Andhra Pradesh Formation Day History
During the colonial period, the Andhra Pradesh region was part of the Madras Province. This is when the region witnessed a solid movement to become an independent state.
In the year 1953, the carving of the new state with the regions of Rayalaseema and Andhra took place. Later, the Telangana region was added in 1956 and the Andhra Pradesh state came into existence. Thus Andhra Pradesh became the first state formed on a linguistic basis.
Telangana Bifurcation
After a few years, there was a rise in demand to establish a separate state for the Telangana region. As a result of this, the bifurcation of AP happened and Telangana state formed.
After the separation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, then Chief Minister of AP N. Chandrababu Naidu announced June 2 as formation day. He announced Nava Nirman Deeksha will be observed every year from June 2 to June 8.
Later on, in the year 2019, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government came into effect, and the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day was again stated to celebrate on November 1.
Andhra Pradesh Formation Day Celebrations
On AP State Formation Day, the Chief Minister of the state receives the guard of honor from police personnel and then unfurls the tricolor. People of the state pay tributes to the Shri Potti Sriramulu, who sacrificed his life for the formation of Andhra in 1953, and Telugu Talli.
