In yet another clash between farmers and police, rioting broke out this morning in Haryana’s Karnal amid protests against a BJP event. Despite a large police presence, barricades were blown down.
During the clash, images were captured of a large crowd of demonstrators shouting slogans. As police made their way through the crowd, the mood remained tense.
Farmers in many parts of Haryana have declared that as part of their protests against the controversial farm laws, they will not allow any events hosted by the ruling BJP. Protests against the event erupted today in Karnal’s Indri.
Since protests against farm laws began last year, Haryana has seen a number of farmer-police clashes.
At least ten people were injured when state police lathi-charged a group of protesters on their way to Karnal to protest a BJP meeting last month.

“We will not, under any circumstances, allow this line to be crossed. Simply take a lathi and whack them with it… It is self-evident; no training is necessary. Just mercilessly thrash them. A former judge opened an investigation into him and placed him on leave for a month.
Today, the state government also told the Supreme Court that “sincere efforts are being made to remove the blockades from interstate roads and National Highways,” but no resolution has been reached. The government of the state
