Actor Arvind Trivedi who played the Ravana role in the TV cult hit Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday night. At the age of 82 years, he died due to a heart attack. His last rites will be conducted, on Wednesday day morning, at Dahanukarwadi crematorium, Kandivali West, Mumbai.
Apart from playing Ravan’s role in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, he had also played a significant role in another cult TV show named Vikram Aur Betaal.
Arvind Trivedi had a career spanning more than three decades in Gujarati cinema also. One of his films, Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya remains one of the most popular Gujarathi films of all time. Not only Trivedi but also his brother Upendra Trivedi was a celebrated name in Gujarati cinema.
In the span of 1991 – 1996, he had also been a Member of Parliament. Trivedi also served as an acting chairman for the CBFC (Central Board for Film Certification) in 2002 and 2003.
