Ahoi Ashtami is another important festival after Karwa Chauth, which is celebrated on Krishna Paksha Ashtami, eight days before Deepawali. According to the Purnimant calendar followed in the Northern parts of India, the auspicious day falls during the Kartik month. According to the Amanta calendar followed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and other southern states of India, it observes in the Ashwin month. However, the date is the same on both of these calendars. This year Ahoi Ashtami 2024 is going to be observed on 17th October 2024.
This festival is also known as Ahoi Aathe and the fast during this festival is similar to Karwa Chauth, the only difference is mothers break the fast after seeing the stars instead of the moon.
