New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) has reportedly collected Rs 254 crore for additional transactions in Jantan Bank accounts. Pointing to this, who is responsible for this? That was questioned by Congress MP, Rahul
State Bank of Mumbai, Ashish Das, Professor of Statistics, said in a statement that Jantan Bank has charged Jantan Bank account holders Rs 17.70 per transaction for making more than 4 digital transactions between 2017 and 2019. Through this, it has earned Rs. 254 crore.
The Jantan Bank Account was launched by Prime Minister Modi with the aim of making bank accounts accessible to the common man. That is why the minimum balance requirement and the rupee debit card facility were given. However, after 4 digital transactions, the bank management has charged a fee.
This means that Jantan bank account holders are not charged for the first 4 digital transactions. But, after that you can buy any item for 15 rupees and transfer it in digital transfer or UPI. 17.70 will be charged from the 5th transaction each time payment is made through. Jantan has violated the banking norms by charging fees to his bank account. It has also violated the rules of the Reserve Bank.
From 2017 to September 2020, State Bank of India charged Rs 254 crore for additional transactions with Jantan Bank account holders. The federal government has ordered a refund. But so far, only Rs 90 crore has been repaid by State Bank to bank account holders. Of that, Rs 164 crore was not repaid. Thus he said in the statement
Referring to the report, Congress MP Rahul said: “Who is responsible for the money in the Jantan bank account?” Thus he said.
