Akhilesh Yadav Says He Won’t Run in Uttar Pradesh Elections Next Year, Party Says So
Akhilesh Yadav represents Azamgarh in state elections as a first-time candidate for the Samajwadi Party.
Despite Akhilesh Yadav’s announcement that he will not run in the 2019 Uttar Pradesh elections, the Samajwadi Party insists that no decision has been made and that it will be made jointly.
According to the Press Trust of India, Yadav stated, “I will not be contesting the assembly election myself.”
The former Chief Minister, an Azamgarh Samajwadi Party MP, is untested in state elections.
Members of his party rushed to provide clarification shortly after the storey appeared in PTI.
“The BJP will be defeated in Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party has a sizable voting base. The party would decide on Akhilesh Yadav’s involvement in the assembly elections “Aashish Yadav, a Samajwadi Party member and close aide to the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, went to Twitter.
Akhilesh Yadav did not run for public office in the 2017 or 2012 elections.
After leading the Samajwadi Party to a resounding win in 2012, he became India’s youngest Chief Minister at the age of 38. At the time, he was the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament representing Kannauj.
Nonetheless, he chose the Legislative Council approach. Dimple Yadav, his wife, was elected unopposed to fill his vacancy in Kannauj.
