Spread your wings and come little champ!
Bangalore: The whole country is praying for the spread of wings and come up as Mitra. Yes .. 16 crore rupees worth of injection was given to a girl from Namakkal district suffering from a genetic disease at the Bangalore hospital today. The whole country is praying that this drug will work and that the little girl will laugh and play.
Satish Kumar and Priyadarshini are a couple from Kumarapalayam, Namakkal district. Their 2-year-old daughter Mitra is suffering from a genetic disorder of spinal cord muscle degeneration. The baby, who was in good health, was suddenly unable to walk, unable to speak or breathe properly.
Genetic spinal cord degeneration problem
The whole family was devastated by this kind of child who played well laughing.
Tested at several hospitals, the child did not know what the problem was. One way or another, a hospital in Coimbatore sent some samples from a baby’s body to Germany for testing, revealing that the girl was suffering from a rare genetic disorder called spinal cord degeneration.
22 crore worth of injection
This should be treated immediately with Solkensma gene therapy. Doctors have said that 16 crore rupees worth of medicine will have to be bought from abroad for this treatment. The drug was said to cost up to Rs 22 crore in Indian currency, including taxes.
Donation to Mitra
The family was devastated. But the mind did not relax. They had great faith in the good minds of our people. So, Satish Kumar launched a huge campaign on the internet to help Mitra and try to do crowdfunding. Many actors, actresses, and cricketers all over the internet demanded that at least 10 rupees be sent to this account.
The people who gave
Believers do not give up. More than three lakh people donated money for Mitra’s medical expenses. At the same time, realizing that taxation was a huge burden, the Mitra family took the matter to the Central Government, through Tamil Nadu political leaders. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has agreed to waive import duty of up to Rs 6 crore on that particular drug, ZOLGENSMA.
The federal government waived the tax
Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin had written a letter to the Central Government requesting the abolition of GST on drugs. Secretary-General of the Madhya Pradesh MP Vaiko also made a similar request to the Central Government. Coimbatore South BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan also briefed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the importance of the issue.
Bangalore Hospital
With the support and cooperation of all parties, the import tax of Rs 6 crore was eliminated. The money was then sent to a private hospital in Bangalore to buy the drug. Following this, the medicine was imported and today, at that private hospital in Bangalore, doctors prescribed ZOLGENSMA medicine to little Mitra. That video is currently out. Mitra’s parents thanked everyone who helped save the girl’s life.
