APS Deol assaulted Navjot Sidhu Concerning the “drugs matter” and the “sacrilege cases,” APS Deol has repeatedly urged the state to put a stop to Navjot Sidhu’s “sincere efforts” to undermine justice.
Navjot Sidhu, a Congress politician, has asked Punjab Advocate General APS Deol to resign because he represents two of the officers charged in the 2015 sacrilege and police firing case.
Mr Deol chastised the former cricketer at one point for his “repeated remarks (that) seek to disrupt the state’s genuine efforts to ensure justice in the “drugs affair” and the “sacrilege cases.”
He also accused Mr. Sidhu of treason for criticising his own administration, which he feared would jeopardise the upcoming Assembly election by “trying to gain an edge over his colleagues by propagating falsehoods.”
By politicising the constitutional office of the Advocate General of Punjab, vested interests are attempting to smear the functioning of the Congress Party in Punjab ahead of the 2019 elections.”
On Saturday morning, Mr. Deol issued the following statement:
Punjab and Haryana High Court senior advocate APS Deol was appointed in September following Atul Nanda’s resignation as Punjab Chief Minister following Amarinder Singh’s resignation as Punjab Chief Minister.
In an interview with reporters on Monday, Mr Sidhu stated that Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi must accept the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister APS Deol in order for Mr Sidhu to retract his resignation as Punjab Chief Minister.
“My resignation has been revoked… When a new Advocate General is appointed, I will assume leadership,” he said, issuing an ultimatum for the second time.
Despite the fact that Amarinder Singh has already been deposed as the party’s chief minister and leader, the Congress must now deal with him as a formidable adversary.
Mr. Sidhu’s elevation was supposed to put an end to the infighting, but that hasn’t happened yet, as he continues to criticise his party and Bihar’s chief minister, Channi.
