Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma: Rise to Union Minister
Early Political Career and Education
VIJAYAWADA: Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma (BJP Varma) became a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 3.0 Cabinet after rising from the position of councillor in the Bhimavaram municipality. With degrees in M.A., M.Li.Sc., and B.L., he is well educated. He was the standing panel chairman and the party’s floor leader in the Bhimavaram municipality. He was a member of the Kshatriya community.
Political Positions Held
He held a number of positions within the party, including president of the BJYM district, town president of the BJP in Bhimavaram, general secretary of the West Godavari district, convenor of the Narasapuram parliamentary seat, member of the national council, and state secretary. He is the BJP State Secretary at the moment. He ran unsuccessfully in 2009 but was victorious this time around with a sizable majority from the Narasapuram Lok Sabha seat.

Over the past three decades, Varma has been involved in both shrimp farming and real estate. In 2014, he presided over Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Bhimavaram while holding the position of district BJP president. Additionally, he served as the convenor of the Utsav Committee for the 125th anniversary of Alluri Sitarama Raju’s birth.
