Chennai: The virus has been confirmed in 1908 people in Tamil Nadu today. Corona outbreaks in 13 districts, including the capital Chennai (203 people), have increased today compared to yesterday’s virus outbreaks.
In Tamil Nadu, the virus, which had been declining for about 68 days, started increasing again from July 28 to August 1. The authorities immediately announced some additional restrictions.
Following this, the incidence of the virus in the state has started declining again in the last 2 days. It is noteworthy that the curfew currently in force in Tamil Nadu has been extended till August 9 without any further relaxation.
Daily corona exposure
Of the 1.45 lakh people tested for corona in Tamil Nadu today alone, a total of 1908 people, including 3 returning from abroad, have been confirmed to have corona today alone. 122 of them are minors, including 12-year-olds. A total of 25,65,452 people have been diagnosed with a corona in Tamil Nadu so far.
Corona casualties
As far as corona deaths are concerned, a total of 29 people have died of corona today, including 6 people who were treated in private hospitals in the state and 23 people who were treated in government hospitals. 5 of them are under 50 years of age and 7 of them have no co-morbidities. In all, 34,159 people have died of corona in Tamil Nadu so far.
Active cases
In Tamil Nadu, 20,385 corona patients were treated yesterday and today it has come down to 20,217. Today alone, 2,047 corona patients have been discharged in the state. So far 25,11,076 people in the state have recovered from the corona. The positive rate is still high in the Tanjore district. Tanjore has a positive rate of 3.5% today, while Ariyalur (2.1%), Coimbatore (2.1%) and Erode (2.0%) districts have a positive rate of over 2%. Overall, the corona positive rate in Tamil Nadu remains at 1.3%.
Viral vulnerability by district
In the capital Chennai, the virus has crossed 200 again. Today, only 189 people were confirmed to be infected with the virus, but today the number has risen to 203. Following that, the virus was detected in 208 people in the Coimbatore district. In Erode (181), Chengalpattu (122), and Tanjore (118) districts alone, the virus has crossed 100.
Corona rising in 13 districts
Today’s corona infection has increased in 13 districts including Chennai, Erode and Tanjore compared to yesterday’s virus outbreak. The highest death toll in Corona was 5 in Tirupur and 4 in Coimbatore and Salem. Meanwhile, no casualties were reported in 22 districts including Trichy, Madurai and Nellai today.
