In his petition, he said that it had been illegal to sell at a price above the stipulated price which many rupees were being looted from the people which a proper inquiry should be held and criminal proceedings should be instituted against the persons concerned.

To start with the case, it came up for hearing before the Judge SM Subramaniam very early. The govt told the court that it had been investigating a complaint of selling at a price above the then-fixed price, including a fine of 12 lakh 60 thousand rupees from February 2020 to July 2024.

Following this, the judge said, ‘The concerned authorities should regularly inspect and make sure that theaters across Tamil Nadu have beverage facilities and hygienic toilet facilities. If there’s a complaint that food items are being sold at high prices, the govt should take immediate action. He subsequently closed the case.
