Tirupati: Thirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam has banned pilgrims from coming on foot. The Thirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam has decided to temporarily close the Alipore Road walkway from Tirupati to Thirumalai and the Sreevari Mettu walkway via Sinivasamangapuram for two days today and tomorrow.
Tens of thousands of devotees visit Tirupati Seven Hills daily. Pilgrimages are also frequented by devotees who book online.
Thirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam has made numerous arrangements for the convenience of the devotees.
The Tirumalai Tirupati Temple is listed in the World Record Book for the number of pilgrims who come to Tirupati Hill on foot, the number of devotees who offer their hair to the Seven Hills and shave their heads, and the number of devotees who receive free food at Tirupati.
About 2 crore devotees come to Tirupati hill every year for Sami darshan except in the last two years.
About 50 lakh of them used to walk from Tirupati to Thirumalai on foot and visit Ezhumalayana.
Every day more than 70,000 devotees are provided free food at Tirupati. This number is higher than anywhere else in the world.
Based on this, Tirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam is included in the world record book.
Tickets worth Rs 300 and a free token to see the Seven Hills are being distributed online. The application can be obtained from the official website of the temple at https://tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in before the start of each month.
Online tickets for November and December are all sold out within hours of being released. It was demanded that more permission should be given to the devotees to visit the Seven Hills.
Various restrictions have been imposed on devotees in Tirupati due to corona infection. Devotees coming to Thirumalai are advised to bring the certificate of two dose vaccination or the corona negative certificate obtained within 72 hours.
It has been decided to increase the number of devotees coming for darshan soon, said Subbaretti, chairman of the Devasthanam Board of Trustees.

Meanwhile, the Thirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam has decided to temporarily close the Alibri road from Tirupati to Thirumalai and the Sreevari Mettu walkway via Sinivasamangapuram on the 17th and 18th due to heavy rain warnings. The temple has requested the devotees to come to Tirupati hill on 17th and 18th only by vehicles to provide proper cooperation considering the situation.
