IPL 2024
It is expected that the new rules will be implemented in the IPL from 2024. The 14th season of the IPL started last April and the remaining matches have been temporarily postponed as the Corona impact has been confirmed for the standing players who have played 29 league matches. The BCCI has announced that the tournament will be held in September-October.
10 teams:
So far this year only 8 teams in total are participating in the IPL. The BCCI has announced that a total of 10 teams will take part in the tournament from next year. The BCCI also said that a mega auction would be held later this year and that each team would have to retain only four players in their squad before then. It is said that the rule that only 4 players should be retained is due to the fact that both the new teams will have players.
94 matches?
According to the existing rules, the number of matches will increase to 94 if 2 new teams arrive. Thus, the environment will have to hold the series for almost three months. The BCCI will implement a new rule to avoid this problem. That is, it is a rule that divides 10 teams into two groups, with each team competing twice against the other. The team that finishes in the top two in both groups will eventually advance to the playoffs.
Speaking to a newspaper, the BCCI executive said, “If the 10 teams do not clash under the old rules, they will have to play up to 94 matches. This can take up to three months. Running a series for so long is an impossible task. As a result, we are forced to implement the new rules. ” It is noteworthy that the addition of two new teams will bring in a profit of up to Rs 800 crore for the BCCI.
