Malayalam Director Ali Akbar had declared that he is quitting Islam. He took this decision in protest against those who had celebrated the death of Chief of Defence Staff, Bipin Rawat. Akbar made this announcement in a video and posted it on social media on Friday.
Akbar said that he decided to leave Islam after discussing the same with his wife. Akbar aged 58 has directed more than 20 films. Currently, he is doing a movie ‘1921: Puzha Muthal Puzha Varey’, which is based on the Malabar rebellion and the massacre.
In the video, the filmmaker said, “I am not a Muslim from today onwards.” In that video clip, he also slammed those who put the smiley emotions below the news reports related to Bipin Rawat’s death and said he could not stand with those anti-nationals anymore.
Ali Akbar said he will be called Ram Singh. He said, “Ramasimhan is a person who was killed while adhering to the Kerala culture…Now Ali Akbar will be known as Ram Singh, That is the best name”.
RamaSimhan, his brother Dayasimhan/Narasimhan, and Dayasimhan’s wife Kamala belonging to a prominent family in Malaparamba (Currently, in Malappuram district) were murdered on 2nd August 1947, allegedly after their conversion to Hinduism from Islam.
Ali Akbar was the state committee member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who left the post in October following some disagreement.
