Microsoft is opening up its own app store in Windows, inviting third-party app stores to join the Microsoft store. As per The Vege, it is a most significant change that will see both Amazon and Epic Games Store findable in the Microsoft Store in the very upcoming months.
“Like any other app, all third-party storefront apps will have a product detail page – that can be found by browsing or search – with this users can easily find and install it with the same confidence like any other app in the Microsoft Store on Windows,” Giorgio Sardo, general manager of the Microsoft Store, was quoted on the website.
Sarbo added, “Games will bring their storefront apps to the Microsoft Store over the next few months, adn we look forward to welcome other stores also in the futire.”
The news comes months later the Microsoft announcement of some major changes to the Microsoft Store.
The store being overhauled for Windows 11 and Windows 10. Not only, this, Microsoft will also let deveopers keep 100 percent of the revenue coming from apps if they use alternative payment platforms. The exception is that this does not apply to games.
In June, the head of Windows and devices, Panos Panay revealed to The Verge that Microsoft is open to Steam and other third-party stores being part of its new Windows 11 app store.
Earlier this yeat, Panay said, “I really want this experience where you go to the store, you type the app in, and you get the app you want.”
